Fragrance
☝🏻 the average product labeled ‘fragrance’ has about 14 ingredients hidden behind that one word. Over 3,000 different ingredients are allowed to be labeled ‘fragrance’ and is legally protected for the sake of ‘trade secret’. The EWG found that over 75% of the ingredients hidden under ‘fragrance’ are pthalates, which are heavily linked to infertility, reproductive disorders, breast cancer, and diabetes.

Lead
☝🏻is a neurotoxin and can be dangerous even in small doses. Medical experts are clear that any level of lead exposure is unhealthy and has been linked to learning, language and behavioral problems. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics released results from an independent laboratory that tested 33 popular brands of lipsticks for lead content and found:61 percent of lipsticks contained lead, with levels ranging up to 0.65 parts per million. Lead-contaminated brands included L’Oreal, Cover Girl and Dior Addict.
In 2009 the FDA released a follow-up study that found lead in all samples of lipstick tested, at levels ranging from 0.09 to 3.06 ppm – levels four times higher than those found in the Campaign study. The FDA found the highest lead levels in lipsticks made by three manufacturers: Procter & Gamble (Cover Girl brand), L’Oreal (L’Oreal, Body Shop and Maybelline brands) and Revlon.

Talc
☝🏻Johnson & Johnson introduced baby powder made of crushed talc. The mineral can be found with asbestos in the earth, raising concern talc products are contaminated with toxic asbestos. In recent years, J&J has lost multimillion dollar lawsuits related to ovarian cancer caused by baby powder.
