ViewPoint Gallery’s Second Community Photowalk!

Looking for a vibrant, creative way to spend your Saturday afternoon? Join us tomorrow for ViewPoint Gallery’s next community photowalk as we head to the Atlantic Kite Festival!

Whether you’re a seasoned pro, a curious amateur, an analog enthusiast, a digital lover, or someone who just loves snapping photos on their phone, this walk is for you. All skill levels and camera types are welcome to attend this free event.

We’ll be heading to Citadel Hill to capture a sky filled with massive, colourful kites, incredible shapes, and the high-flying energy of the festival. There’s no strict itinerary—we’ll gather to shoot the action, play with angles and perspectives, and see where our cameras take us, and then meet up afterwards for a casual chance to share photos and experiences.

Don't forget comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, sunscreen, and plenty of space on your memory card (or extra rolls of film) for all those high-flying shots!

The Details:

* When: Saturday, July 11th at 1:00 PM
* Where: Meeting at the Halifax Public Gardens Entrance, corner of South Park St. & Spring Garden Rd. Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/64nDMjSx1LpygD6i8
* How to find us: Just look for the crowd with cameras!

No registration required—just show up, bring your creativity, and let’s shoot together. All are welcome!

Be sure to tag social media so we can feature our favourites on our page.

Note: We’re on, rain or shine! But in the event of extreme weather, keep an eye on our social media by 11:00 AM for updates.

DEADLINE EXTENDED!

We still have a few spots left in our Summer Youth Photo Camp, so have extended the registration deadline.

The 2026 Summer Youth Photo Camp offers a dynamic week of hands-on learning, creative exploration, and technical skill development. Participants will immerse themselves in a variety of activities, exercises, and experiences designed to foster both artistic and technical growth. By the end of the week, they will have gained an understanding of exposure, lighting, image critiques, and non-traditional photography techniques.

The camp will conclude with a Friday exhibition for family, friends and ViewPoint members, showcasing the participants’ work, celebrating the progress and achievements. Armed with new skills and insights, participants will be equipped to enhance their personal photographic practices and create thoughtful, impactful images with any camera. Activities include photo walks, gallery visits, alternative printing methods, exhibition preparation, and more!

Photos from ViewPoint Gallery's post 07/05/2026

Our first ViewPoint Photowalk was a huge success. Ten photographers showed up to capture the Canada Day Festivities along the Halifax Harbour Waterfront.

Included here are several photos from our attending members.

If you were there, please tag us on Facebook and/or Instagram and we'll repost your photos.

Because the event was such a success, we've already planned for another to coincide with the Kite Festival on Saturday, July 11th -- see the last slide for more details.

A big thanks to everyone who came out to support our first photowalk.
