A little bit of structure is the secret to a wonderful floral arrangement.
Using wire snips, cut hexagonal wire slightly larger than the opening of the vessel you are using. Form it into a ball and secure it using twigs across the top to keep it from slipping. Fill your vessel with water and begin adding greenery to the wire form to create the base for your arrangement and then add flower stems.
The mesh base will help support all of your blooms letting you be as creative as you like.
