Dr. Elmer Ghostkeeper is a respected Métis Elder from Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement whose work has long connected Métis leadership, Indigenous knowledge, community wellness, and relationship to land. 🪶

The teaching is currently being shaped around:

🏞️land stewardship
🌲related land-based teachings

This event is part of ICA’s ongoing commitment to centering Indigenous knowledge in climate action. ♥️

As this event features a Métis Elder, it is also an important opportunity to deepen engagement with Métis communities and to hold space for Métis knowledge and teachings within ICA’s public programming.

Lynn Lake RCMP investigating homicide

On May 30, 2026, at 5:30 am, Lynn Lake RCMP received a report of an unresponsive male at a residence in the community of Lynn lake.

Officers attended and located an 18-year-old male who was transported to the Nursing Station and later pronounced deceased.

Information provided to officers on scene was that the 18-year-old male had been involved in an ATV collision and suffered the serious injuries.

The investigation has determined that the victim was in fact not involved in an ATV collision and that his death was the result of a homicide.

Lynn Lake RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
