Happy Friday from Juniper!

Juniper is still in the “observer” phase of her training. She is learning office etiquette and how to be a good girl when visiting clients. Eventually, she will take on more of an active role in the therapy process. But for now she is happy to be the official receiver of ear scratches.

AJS Law first opened its doors on December 1, 2016 and since that time we have been honoured to serve Brandon and the surrounding communities of Western Manitoba. Over the course of the last 6 years our firm has grown with additional counsel and staff, and our practice has expanded to include a wider catchment of locations that we appear in including Dauphin, Swan River, The Pas, and Thompson.

As with everything in life, growth brings with it change and evolution - and our firm is no different. As we look towards the horizon and our future, we believe that the time is right for us to undergo a change as well.

We are happy to announce that effective January 1, 2023, AJS Law will be practicing under the name ‘Horizon Defence Group’. Our current counsel and staff will remain on board and will continue to be dedicated to serving our cliental.

We will be posting updated contact information in the coming weeks, and we will also have more announcements in the new year - so stay tuned!

Every day we stand on guard to protect the rights and give a voice to those who find themselves facing the full brunt of the criminal justice system. We are skilled in this endeavour and can prepare ourselves for that task.

We also know that the criminal justice system and its participants are routinely attacked by those who do not understand, or care to know, how and why the system works the way it does and feel that we are "failing victims" or "helping criminals". This does not phase us in our goal.

What we cannot begin to understand is how we would react if that system - and in fact our nation, was actually under real, physical attack. It is unfathomable that in this age, where we are all connected around the globe, a nation could openly declare war on another sovereign state in the full light of day before the entire world community.

The actions of Russia against Ukraine are illegal, unjust, and immoral. There is no "other side" to the story, or other factors to consider.

AJS Law unreservedly supports the independence of Ukraine and its people. Our thoughts are with all of those affected and their families. We pray for a quick and peaceful end to the conflict.
