Born 2 Run Photography

We’re starting to enter competition season again and every year it makes me pause and question if my work is good enough.

This year one of the groups I’m part of kicked the season off with a small challenge called Grid Games. This is the same group I participated in 2023 and 2024 through their Embark and Emerge challenges.

For this Grid Games challenge we had to create an image using the rule of thirds, putting a lot of emphasis on the crop and composition of the image.

I decided to submit this image of Viper that I captured and last night found out it placed in the Top 20 images within the Veteran tier. This was a bit of a surprise since there’s a LOT of incredible photographers in the veteran group.

WINDSOR/ESSEX DOGGY MODEL CALL: “In the blink of an eye”

Hey Windsor/Essex dog owners, I’m working on a very special storytelling photo concept that I hope to enter into competitions this year, and I\m looking for FOUR dogs of the same breed and colour to help bring this to life:

🐶 Puppy (8–10 weeks)
🐕 Adolescent (6–7 months)
🐾 Adult (3–5 years)
🤍 Senior (10+ years)

These four dogs will be photographed as part of a composite image that I cannot wait to bring to life!

What I’m looking for:
* Preferably a med-large breed such as the Border Collie, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Malinois, Huskies, or solid-coloured coat.
* Markings that will be relatively easy to match up across different dogs (sorry but merles, speckled, harlequin markings will not be selected).
* Comfortable running (or trotting for the senior) towards their owner from approx 30ft

Selected participants receive:
- A complimentary mini session for this project with 2 images of your beloved pup professionally created and edited as a beautiful memory
- All dogs will be photographed separately so nervous or reactive dogs are welcome to apply

This is a story-driven piece, and I’ll be selecting based on how well the dogs fit together visually to bring this concept to life.

Been a little quiet over the winter but we’ve been hard at work in the background working on new skills, and designing the Great Big Book of Windsor/Essex Dogs.

This weekend we finally finished photographing the last few pups, and now the final book design stage can kick off in full gear!!!

Oh sweet Creidim! The first time we got to photograph this handsome boy was at the Battle of the Atlantic agility competition back in 2022. He ran the entire course with the BIGGEST grin on his face and you couldn't help but smile watching him!! So we were absolutely THRILLED when his mom signed him up for our Fall Minis ❤

Seriously, how do you not fall in love with his sweet face?! 🥰

Don’t let Joy’s serious face trick you, this little bundle of energy was thrilled to run and sniff through the leaves during her Fall Mini session. But when it’s time to pose she goes into work mode and helped us create this beautifully intense portrait! 😍
