Each year in August these two young studs join me with their father for a day of walleye fishing. I have enjoyed taking these young men the last three years and watch thier confidence (and patience) grow each season. These two boated somewhere between 14 and 16 walleyes today! Including two new personal bests.

Jon and Sara from Northern Quebec came out for an evening on the water and hooked into a few nice ones! Jon competes in some walleye tournements back home and was really impressed with Streamside- Out West Streamside apex rods we were pitching jigs with. He couldnt believe they only retail for 159$!

W**d growth has really accelerated and is providing alot of cover and forage for these healthy fish. We are starting to see fish transition to the main lake as the water temps creep upwards oBrooks Region Tourism next big bute could be anywhere on the lake…

Cole and Jason came out to enjoy a day of fishing. Some nice catches gentlemen! Way to make each bite count! You cant always time a trip perfectly and we had to fish a coldfront that had the fish in a funk. It wasnt hot and heavy, but we grinded through fish all day and did pretty good. Here’s someme tips to optimize your time on the water in a cold front this time of year:

•This time of year fish can be found surprisingly shallow. They appreciate the warm water so pay attention to your graph and look for that warm water in the back of shallow bays. We are just now seeing water temps creep around 60 degrees in the afternoons.

•Sometimes, you just gotta put some meat in their face. Cold water temps and cold front weather systems can have fish lethargic in nature. Slip bobbers, drop shots and verticall jigging bait can be very effective presentations this time of year. Use what bait you have confidence in. For me, its nightcrawlers.

•We have extremely clear water right now. When fishing clear water walleyes, get your presentation away from the boat. The boat does spook fish. If you can see the bottom where your catching them, you’ll do better getting your bait as far from your boat as possible.
