Thirty Bench Wine Makers produced this wonderful 2015 Double Noir. A blend of Gamay and Pinot Noirs that was just great with BBQ burgers. This blending is used in Burgundy and is known as passetoutgrain. The fruit was almost tart with cranberry, raspberry and strawberry characteristics. I enjoyed this immensely and will be putting it on my go to list. Having recently visited the winery and met with Fiona the estate manager I would put this as a go to destination.

14 Hands Winery Cabernet 2014 was my choice with dinner last night. I picked it up as I saw the label with the horses and thought of Vicki Briggs, Kate Weech and Jennifer Zielke . Often times we choose a wine by the interesting label. There is nothing wrong with being adventurous and choosing like this, but it doesn’t always work out.
The 14 Hands was very drinkable with lots of cherries and jammy fruit on the palate with minimal tannins and almost a sweet but not a very long finish. This would pair well with a BBQ steak or burgers. My drinking partners last evening Jennifer Zielke and Kristin Pyott thought it was quite drinkable as they liked the fruitiness and would even enjoy it without food.
