City of Burnaby - Local Government is hosting its National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration today, June 20, from 1–5pm at Civic Square (next to Bob Prittie Metrotown Library). Free and open to everyone.
The event will be held a day early this year, at the request of Host Nations and Indigenous community members.
Performing today:
🎶 Tsatsu Stalqayu (), Spakwus Slolem (Eagle Song Dancers), and Chinook SongCatchers — song, dance and storytelling
🪢 James Jones ( cree ) — hoop dance and storytelling
🎤 — hip hop and spoken word artist and beat-boxer
🎵 — Indigenous artist, NCI Indigenous Music Countdown
Also today: an Indigenous fashion show, traditional games, an Indigenous artisans market, and a print station with BAG on a Bike featuring Wolf and Weaving by Atheana Picha.
This event is audio accessible, with a quiet zone located west of the artisan market.
