This is often caused by biofilm—a buildup of bacteria and organic matter that can live inside your plumbing lines. Simply draining and refilling your hot tub won't solve the problem, because the biofilm remains in the pipes and can quickly return. Proper treatment requires a specialized product designed to break down and remove the biofilm from the system.

Once biofilm dries on the shell surface, it can become very difficult to remove, sometimes forming a hard, rock-like texture. If cleaning is required, use only a soft-bristle brush to avoid scratching the hot tub surface.

If you're seeing small white or clear floating particles in the water that resemble dead skin, or if you suspect white or black mold, your hot tub may need professional attention. These issues can often be treated, but it's important to address them correctly to prevent them from returning.
