Frustrated in getting the hem the right length? Try this technique I learned from my husbandโ€™s tailor. Anyone can help mark your pants โ€“ even your husband!

Step 1: (pic 2 ) Grab a ruler (any length). Make sure you are wearing the intended shoes and with the ruler on the floor mark the top on both back pant legs.

(pic 3) This method takes into consideration uneven leg lengths. Notice my right leg is longer than my left (the right ruler is closer to the cut edge). This can occur if you have a high hip.

Step 2: (pic 4) Based on the mark, desired finished length, and hem allowance determine where to cut each pant leg (pic 5) and hem.

Presto! Pants will be the same length off the floor regardless of how long each leg is.

Say hello to winter sewing bliss with my new toy, the Reliable 4100IS from Italy!๐Ÿ™‚

My old steam generator quit on me, and after a long hunt filled with duds, I found this gem. It gives endless steam and has the perfect weight. ย It's a dreamy must-have for avid sewists!

๐ŸŒžWith summer coming to a close, I wanted to share a dress which has become one of my favโ€™s. A simple sleeveless rayon sundress, letting the fabric speak for itself. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Iโ€™m a firm believer in pattern reuse, so I chose to reuse princess seamed dress pattern Butterick B6850. This is a great Palmer/Pletsch pattern if you want to learn how to fit a princess seam. ๐Ÿ‘— Looks fabulous on those fuller busted. I have made the dress in linen as well as a stretch velvet. Each dress has slightly different details making them unique to themselves.

I wore the dress the other day and a perfect stranger stopped me and commented on how nice the dress looked. What a great way to start your day! ๐Ÿ˜

Enjoy the last few warm days as we transition into fall!
