🤠🥞 Stampede pancake breakfast, anyone?

It’s pancake season in Calgary — so how about making a batch the SpiraVeg way? 🌿

These Banana Oat Pancakes put a fun green twist on a Stampede favourite. Make the banana-oat batter, divide it evenly between two bowls, then mix one packet of SpiraVeg freeze-dried spirulina into the batter in one bowl while leaving the other as is.

Cook up a mix of classic banana-oat pancakes and spirulina pancakes — or combine the two batters for a few fun two-tone ones. 🌿🥞

You’ll need:

• 1 cup 1:1 gluten-free flour
• 1 tbsp gluten-free baking powder
• 1/4 cup coconut sugar
• 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
• 1 packet SpiraVeg freeze-dried spirulina
• 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cashew milk
• 1 medium banana
• 2 flax eggs
• 1 cup gluten-free oats
• Coconut oil for cooking

To make:

1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl, keeping the spirulina aside.
2. Blend the cashew milk, banana, flax eggs, and oats until smooth and creamy.
3. Gently combine the wet and dry mixtures.
4. Divide the batter evenly between two bowls. Leave one bowl as is, and mix the SpiraVeg spirulina into the batter in the second bowl.
5. Cook on a lightly oiled skillet over medium-low heat. Make classic and spirulina pancakes separately, or combine the two batters for a two-tone effect.
6. Cook until bubbles form on top, flip, and finish the other side.

Top with sliced banana, cinnamon, and a drizzle of maple syrup. 🍌🍁 And if you like, add a little extra SpiraVeg after cooking. 🌿

Running toward something bigger. 💚

This year marks an exciting milestone for us at SpiraVeg — 10 years.

Ten years of growing, learning, building, and sharing Canadian-grown spirulina with our community.

To help kick off this celebration year, one of our founders decided to take on a personal challenge:
her very first half marathon.

That meant 21.1 km…
with only 45 days to prepare. 😅

What started as one personal challenge quickly became something much more meaningful.

In a short time, our small “SpiraVeg For Kids” team came together:
two moms and three pre-teens.

At this year’s weekend, our team completed:
🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ two half marathons (including our founder’s first-ever half marathon)
🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ three first-ever 10K races

All while fundraising for Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. 💚

At SpiraVeg, we truly believe wellness is about more than food alone.

It’s about:
✨ healthy bodies
✨ resilient minds
✨ movement
✨ confidence
✨ community
✨ and supporting the next generation

To support this initiative, from now until June 20th:

In addition, 5% of sales from this campaign will go toward our fundraising efforts for Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. 💚

You can also support our fundraising efforts directly through the link in our bio.

More than a week later, we’re still reflecting on the experience.

The energy.
The emotion.
The people.

Thank you for creating such a phenomenal event that was about so much more than running. 💚

For a few hours, complete strangers became teammates, cheerleaders, and sources of strength as thousands of people came together to encourage one another forward, one step at a time.

To the organizers, volunteers, medical teams, musicians, strangers cheering on the sidelines, and every runner who shared the course with us — THANK YOU!

And for our young runners especially, we hope this becomes more than just a race memory.

We hope it becomes a reminder that they are capable of hard things. 💚

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
