Organ and Tissue Donation
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is helping increase the visibility of organ and tissue donor registries across the country.

When filing taxes for the 2023 tax year, Ontario and Nunavut residents can tick a box on their income tax and benefit return to indicate they want to receive information from their provincial/territorial government about becoming organ and tissue donors.

As a tax preparer, you can tick the box when preparing a client’s tax return as long as the client consents to having their contact information shared with their provincial/territorial government.

By ticking the box, taxpayers are not consenting to become organ and tissue donors. They are authorizing the disclosure of limited personal information to the province/territory (email address in the case of Ontario residents and name, address, and email address in the case of Nunavut residents). The province/territory will reach out to taxpayers who have signaled their interest and provide them with more information about organ and tissue donation.

Less than one-third of Canadians are registered organ and tissue donors. As most Canadians are required to file an income tax and benefit return each year, the CRA is helping to raise public awareness about organ and tissue donation.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will issue the first CCB young child supplement (CCBYCS) payments on May 28, 2021, which will include the January and April payments. If you are entitled to receive the CCBYCS and have not received your first payment by June 11, 2021, you may want to check on its status by contacting the CRA. Please note that the CRA cannot provide any new information before this date. The payments for the CCBYCS are not reflected in My Account.

What is the CCBYCS?

In the 2020 Fall Economic Statement, the Government of Canada proposed support for families with young children for 2021. The proposed support, CCBYCS, became law on May 6, 2021.

Families entitled to the Canada child benefit (CCB) in January, April, July or October 2021 with a family net income of $120,000 or less will receive up to four tax-free payments in 2021 of $300 per child under the age of six, for a total benefit up to $1,200. Families entitled to the CCB in January, April, July or October 2021 with a family net income above $120,000 will receive up to four tax-free payments in 2021 of $150 per child under the age of six, for a total benefit up to $600. Parents must file their 2019 and 2020 tax returns to receive all the payments they are entitled to.
