Many people know these names.
Fewer people know their Caribbean roots‼️
This carousel highlights pioneers: influential figures across activism, music, sports, literature, business, and culture who are often taught as “American icons”, without acknowledging the Caribbean lineage that shaped their worldview, values, and leadership.
From civil rights leaders to cultural innovators, these individuals were FIRSTs in many ways - and they reflect the deep and ongoing impact of the Caribbean diaspora on U.S. history and global culture.
🗣️This is not a list of every famous Caribbean figure in the U.S. It is just a few of those who did something first that no one else had ever done.
