Our Story
Welcome to Forward Housing!
Our organization, formerly known as the Bishop O’Byrne Housing Association, grew from the hard work and commitment of Calgary’s Roman Catholic community over 40 years ago. Originally established to support Calgary’s low-income seniors, we now provide safe and affordable housing to a wider spectrum of those in need. Our organization recently underwent a rebranding initiative to reflect this evolution in purpose and refresh our vision.
We currently operate 477 senior self-contained units, across seven apartment buildings, for the Government of Alberta. As an affordable housing provider, we also we own and operate a 76-unit apartment complex. We have a new Bridgeland building currently under construction which is set to open in 2021; it will provide a home for 200 vulnerable Calgarians trying to make ends meet.
