Meet a good Belizean friend of mind Garbo. We share the same passion for adventure and over the past 8 years we’ve done some serious adventuring around Belize. At this particular point in time, we both had GOLD fever and bad!
-
We planned for months and purchased all the right equipment for gold prospecting, we had big plans! This river hike was one of first on the trip and we decided to go to Cockcomb Basin, the national Jaguar sanctuary.
-
Needless to say, I felt like a fresh white meat meal for a big hungry cat. It’s a good thing my guides were so relaxed, but the adrenaline was pumping…. I was hooked.

You never know who you’re going to meet traveling.

I was taking a nap on the beach and got woken up by this cute little beach runner. He was laying right next to me like I was his owner. I decided to adopt his cool temperament, copy his pose and snap
a pic. He had a collar so I was a little confused on who’s dog it was!? He ended up chilling with me for about an hour and ran off. Must have liked my vibes, It’s the little things 😊

Sometimes all you need is a little beach and ocean… oh and Coronas and Tacos, those help too!

Location – Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Let’s leave the big city and head to the coast, Sihanoukville. It’s a good 5 hour's bus ride from Phnom Penh. Never a dull moment, the converted school bus was packed full of mostly locals and us. After noticing the bus didn’t stop driving much on the trip, I emptied my system of fluids at the first stop. Apparently, not everybody had that same idea….

A good 3 hours into the scorching and bumpy bus trip, the lady directly behind me, and her two daughters, about 4-6 years old, started making a commotion. I couldn’t understand what was happening, as I didn’t understand the language. A couple of minutes later, I looked behind me and this child is fully squatted in the middle of the aisle over a plastic bag her Mom had placed out for her to use as a toilet. I couldn't believe what I was seeing!! I remember this overbearing smell of sh*t; she was letting it all out! I’m pretty sure I was in shock.

Things went from bad to worse, we managed to hit a jump at precisely the wrong time and there she went right into her excrement. All hell broke loose at this point as tears and screams started rolling. The bus came to a stop, and I was the first one off and spent the next 10 minutes vomiting my guts out! I will never forget the last 60min of that bus trip.

The laidback vibe, our accommodations, and the endless white sand beaches, almost made up for travel in. I spent 10 days in Sihanoukville, enjoying the unique energy this place provides.

Needless to say, I got a private shuttle back to the airport.
