Perfection: The day, the weather, the location, the hoarfrost thick on the trees. Not perfect: my skiing ability, my ability to stick to my own timeline (got there two hours later than I had planned), my ability to make an inspirational video for a reel (accidentally double-pressed Record so all I ended up with was one second of nothing, plus a couple of photos like this one).
Perfection, and the pressure of not doing something unless I knew I would do it “perfectly”, has been something I have struggled with for my entire life. In the last few years I’ve been trying to let that go, and I have a feeling I’m going to get even better at it in 2026. Does that mean I’m going to get more perfect at allowing myself to be imperfect?? Deep thoughts!
Perfection isn’t necessary, or even ideal. Just do what you can, and be proud of yourself. Be gentle with yourselves, friends.

When you arrive home from a holiday and see that not only were your 3 cats so well cared for that they barely registered your absence, but also that your amazing and multitalented pet sitter made you a couple of adorable cat throw pillows 😻😻😻 Thanks, — you are THE BEST!! 💖💖

I don’t know about you, friends, but from where I’m standing, the world has felt a little heavier these past couple of weeks. So this morning, it felt good to get out for a walk with one of my besties. It had been a while since I saw her, so we got caught up on work, travel, education, family, and any other topics we could fit in during our time together. And we got to admire this view! I mean, come on — that chinook arch, those mountains, the river — how lucky am I to live here? I’m going to keep my head up and keep working to make this world a kinder, gentler place for all who are grieving, and for everyone. Make it a beautiful day! ❤️

I’ve been a loyal listener of Krista Dicks’ podcast, The Radical Massage Therapist Podcast, for years. We had a wonderful conversation, and you can listen to it in Episode 111 here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/111-the-grief-connection-why-massage-therapists-are/id1447519161?i=1000675498627 — let me know what you think in the comments.
