Do you know why the national brand laundry soap is blue? 🧐

A little quick dive and here’s what I found…

They use Optical Brightening Agents (OBAs), also referred to as Fluorescent Whitening Agents (FWAs).

Im not a scientist so here is the dumbed down version of that 😂

Essentially it’s a chemical blue filter on the yellowing whites that makes them “appear” white when they aren’t actually white. It’s similar to photography. They use a blue filter to whiten yellow photos.

These ingredients are toxic and don't biodegrade, which means that once they get into wastewater, they remain in it for a loooong time.

They can bioaccumulate into aquatic life, posing a potential hazard over an extended period of time. They also contaminate your personal household water.

They are also known for causing irritation in people with allergies.

And it’s $27.99 for 94 loads of chemical blue illusions?!?!

I'm paying $24.59 for 96 loads of biodegradable laundry soap.

Tide is selling you mostly water.

The detergent I use from the Wellness Store uses 2 teaspoons. TWO!! They figure you can provide your own water at home…since it's a washing machine and all. 😂

No chlorine bleach, formaldehyde, phthalates, parabens, or 27 of the most common allergens and chemicals hidden in the word "fragrance."

And it works so good! I literally can throw in kids food stained shirts, or their muddy, dirty pants and everything comes out looking brand new and smelling FANTASTIC!

Doing better doesn't mean you have to pay a fortune or sacrifice effectiveness!

And learning this random stuff is fascinating- or so I think!
