I was provided the opportunity to try out and comment on the new headset.

I flew with it on 3 different days.
All on 2 leg days that were at least 5 hours each day.
I have the headset and able to compare the two.

On first glance the carrying case already addressed the first comment I made about the original ProFlight case, a loop and carabiner for attaching to another bag. Great start!
Opening the case up there is no longer the form for sitting the headset in while in the case. I wasn’t sure what this would do but after working with it, no negatives that come from it being removed.
On inspecting the new headset I could tell there was a smaller gauge cord from the battery pack to the headset itself. Depending on how you set your headset up this could make for a drastic decrease in weight pulling down on your head. I hang the battery pack from the sun visor rail and therefore don’t have any issues.
When looking at the overall weight, we all know decreased weight is decreased fuel burn therefore a great adjustment.
The battery housing is the same from the outside and the internals as well.
I tried the tap control which I had not used on the ProFlight (original) for a while as I found that it would activate and deactivate a few times on landing (only on rough runways, or firm Boeing Landings) the ProFlight 2 didn’t seem to activate as often but I didn’t land at any airports with rough runways.
The mic cover is now attached now by small velcro tabs behind and on the side of the mic, great addiction as I had my mic cover fall off a few times.

The audio is still clear and the mic seems to pic up a little less background noise.

The only comment that I can make that would be less than stellar would be about my ears and how the buds rest in them. I get a hot spot on my left ear after wearing them for more than about 4 hours. That is not a shot against the headset only to say that we all have different bodies and requirements so try it out for yourself.
4.7/5 (can’t really blame a company for not being able to fit 100% of all pilots ears)
A great a product as the original version, the small tweaks just polish it up even further.
Well done

New fatigue rules for Canadian Pilots being introduced.
Implementation is still a while away (depending on the type of operation you work at, it could be less than 2 years up to 4 years)
There are 4 parties connected to a pilots fitness for flight and fatigue.
1. Transport Canada set the limits (new restrictions to comes).
2. The companies work to those limits (unless an agreement with the pilots has been reached to have more restrictive conditions)
3. The union/association advocates generally for more restrictive conditions.
4. The pilot has to do all the leg work to ensure they are fit for flight.
