How big is the world's largest cattle breed?

In central Italy, Chianina cattle can stand up to two metres tall and weigh more than 1,200 kilograms (2,645 pounds). Known as the "white giant," the breed is prized for its lean beef and premium market value.

Read more about how one Italian family continues to raise this historic breed despite the added demands in this ABP Daily story, written by Melanie Epp:

Alberta Beef Producers welcomes the Honourable Tara Sawyer to her new role as Alberta's Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation.

Minister Sawyer brings deep roots in agriculture and a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing producers. Her experience in industry leadership and advocacy will be an asset as Alberta agriculture continues to navigate an increasingly complex landscape.

Alberta’s beef industry is a key driver in the province’s economy, rural communities, and food production systems. We look forward to working collaboratively with Minister Sawyer on the issues that matter most to producers, including maintaining a competitive and sustainable business environment for Alberta's agriculture industry.

We congratulate Minister Sawyer on her appointment and look forward to building a strong working relationship in support of Alberta agriculture and beef producers.
