This past week in Mexico was more than just a vacationit was a divine pause. A moment of healing. A breath we didnโ€™t know we needed.

We spent a week in a cozy Airbnb in Playa del Carmen, soaking up the charm, followed by a few days of resort life in Cancun. We laughed, we reflected, and we gave thanks. What made it all even more humbling? It was a blessed, paid vacation something we didnโ€™t see coming in a year full of losses.

This year broke us.
We lost our company.
We lost our life savings.
We lost dreams we spent years building.
And with it all we almost lost ourselves.

But God never left us. Even when we were on our knees, confused and hurting, He was working in the silence. We now know those losses werenโ€™t just endings they were redirections. We were being used for His purpose.

My wife, Sheena, my rock, my warrior what can I say? Iโ€™m so proud of her. In the middle of our storm, she chose to rise. She went back to school, got her rig medic certification, and landed a job on the rigs as a medic and with another company as an event medic. Soon, weโ€™ll both be working long hours away from home, rebuilding from the ground up. And we will rebuild. Stronger. Wiser. Grateful.

This trip gave us space to reconnect. To rediscover our โ€œwhy.โ€ And if thereโ€™s one thing I took away from this week, itโ€™s this: my wife is even more beautiful today than when I first met her.

Her smile lit up every street in Playa del Carmen. Locals thought she was Spanish which didnโ€™t surprise me. Sheโ€™s radiant. Sheโ€™s exotic. And she chose me a flawed man every single day.

Thank you, God, for this woman.
Thank you for your grace.
And thank you for reminding us that even after loss, beauty and purpose remain.

Hereโ€™s to new beginnings. One day at a time.
