The Eames Molded Plywood Chair, designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1946, is a landmark in modern furniture design. Born from the couple’s experimentation with molded plywood, the chair was a breakthrough in both form and function. It was developed through their innovative technique of bending and shaping plywood into organic curves, creating a lightweight yet durable structure that conformed to the human body.

Originally conceived during World War II, the Eameses first explored plywood molding for military splints, stretchers, and aircraft parts. This experience led to the refined and sculptural design of the LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) and DCW (Dining Chair Wood)—both of which were introduced by Herman Miller in 1946.

Dubbed by Time Magazine as the "Best Design of the 20th Century," the Eames Molded Plywood Chair remains an enduring icon of modern design. Its simple yet striking aesthetic, combined with exceptional comfort and craftsmanship, ensures its place in contemporary interiors to this day.
