June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to reflect, learn, and celebrate the histories, cultures, science, and lived experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples. It is a time to recognize the knowledge systems and scientific traditions that have been practiced on these Lands for thousands of years and continue to thrive today.

TELUS Spark Science Centre acknowledges that it is located on the Ancestral Lands of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), the Traditional Lands of the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Îethka Nakoda First Nation, and the homeland of the Otipemisiwak Métis.

Spark recognizes and supports the science, knowledge, and teachings found within these Lands, Languages, Stories, and Peoples. Indigenous Peoples have cared for this place, where the Bow and Elbow Rivers meet, for thousands of years.

This science centre is located within a natural corridor that has long been used for trade, migration, and hunting. For generations, people, animals, and weather have moved through this area to the meeting place of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, a place of gathering that remains important today.

We are grateful to the Peoples who have cared for this Land and helped it thrive. Today, it remains a place where many cultures and Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island live together in peace and respect.

Guided by the Indigenous Advisory Circle of Elders and Knowledge Keepers, Spark remains committed to listening, learning, and taking action as we continue our journey of Reconciliation. 💫

The craziest thing about you might literally be sitting on top of your fingertip.

A tiny pattern you barely even think about, yet somehow, out of 8 billion people, not one person has the exact same one. 🤯

This is exactly why we’re putting them to work at the LEGO Lab. Learn about dactyloscopy, the science of fingerprints, and turn your own pattern into art that’s completely one of a kind. 🧑‍🎨

Okay real talk. You can ask a man who has flown 40 types of aircraft, been deployed to two conflicts, earned four degrees, and is about to live on the International Space Station absolutely anything you want.

That's just a normal Sunday at Spark.

Colonel Joshua Kutryk, CSA astronaut and NASA SpaceX Crew-13 crew member, is here May 24 for a live talk and open Q&A. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Come curious.
