Supporting youth impacted by the stress and stigma of a parents substance use through youth programming, caregiver supports, and professional training.

Applying trauma-informed care means more than understanding trauma. It means helping young people and families experience safety.
Too often, trauma-informed care is taught as a set of principles or practices. But understanding trauma alone doesn’t guarantee that someone will experience your service, classroom, clinic, or conversation as safe.
Why? Because trauma doesn’t exist in isolation. Young people and families are also navigating stigma, shame, discrimination, and the lasting impacts of being misunderstood, judged, or blamed. Those experiences shape whether they trust us, ask for help, or believe they belong.
That’s why these two workshops were intentionally designed to complement one another. When we understand how trauma shapes the ways young people adapt to survive, and how stigma can reinforce those adaptations long after the adversity has passed, we are better equipped to create the conditions where healing, connection, and belonging become possible.
Whether you work in health care, education, social services, child welfare, justice, or community settings, these practical, evidence-informed workshops will provide tools you can apply immediately.

We’ve been a little quieter on social media lately, but behind the scenes, the work hasn’t slowed down.
This spring and summer, our small but mighty team has:
continued to
🌱Pack Hope Kits that make their way into the hands of young people and families.
🌱 Growing awareness in our community through conversations, presentations, and relationship-building.
🌱Sharing our work and programs supporting youth & families with organizations and professionals including presenting at the Legal Representation Conference with the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate ,connecting with colleagues in Bolivia who are working to transform how children and families experiencing substance use challenges are understood and supported, community groups doing amazing work kindred_ab , and team Matthew Perry House
🌱Learning from leaders in child abuse prevention and response with the incredible team at , continuing to deepen our teams practice and understanding.
🌱learning alongside our Youth Advocacy Council as they share children’s rights and create new tools and resources for educators. We can’t wait to share what they’ve been building, stay tuned!
🌱Connecting in peer spaces where stories, belonging, and mutual support continue to remind us why this work matters.
And, of course, planning, scheming, dreaming, and imagining what comes next. ✨
Thanks to all who continue to dream with us, our amazing peer group funders at the Mental Health Foundation and City of Calgary .
Creating change takes a community, and we are grateful for ours.
