When love isn't enough....

We took in 7 birds over a month ago - we squeezed them in because they simply had nowhere else to go and they needed help.

Its getting harder and harder for people to care for their pets - whether its exotics or domesticated - things are downright hard for so many and the options of surrender are becoming a real challenge - and if that animal is in any form of distress - it becomes that much harder and so unfair to that animal.

There is alot that goes on behind the scenes that we don't share - rescue is not about glorifying what we do or why we do it and its not about trying to showboat help when given - or giving ourselves a pat on the back - its about offering real, honest and tangible help when we can.
I have lost count the amount of nail trims I have done over the years to people who just can't afford it and cannot do it themselves - I have lost count how many times I have offered food/supplies to help families over a rough patch - I have lost count how much behavior counselling I have provided to help that family KEEP their bird in their home..and money never came up and everything has always been funded by me - not the rescue.
Yes, its a choice - 100% - and choices are made every single day and I wouldn't change any of it - its what I do and I do it with passion to help those without a voice.

Where am I going with this...

We lost Blu yesterday - that sweet little Linnie with the massive hole in his beak.
I am so pi**ed off - he deserved so much better and if he had gotten the care he needed years ago - he would not have suffered and he would not have died.
I am angry that people can clearly see suffering/pain in an animal but not reach out for help - there is nothing wrong with seeking help - talk to a vet, an spca, a rescue - but DO SOMETHING don't just sit back and watch them go through this.
As an outsider looking in - you clearly SEE and KNOW something is wrong - step up - DO SOMETHING - how can anyone with any kind of empathy just NOT do something to help - even if that means having the animal removed - at least they will get the care they deserve or be set free to ease their pain.
There are many organizations that can help and if they can't they will direct to you somewhere that can - but I can GUARANTEE that any organization you reach out to will step in if that animal is suffering - make the RIGHT choice - for the love of god use your common sense and if you love that animal - do right by it - you made the CHOICE to have it in your life - YOU are responsible for them.

Blu got to know and feel true, genuine and caring love in his final weeks - he was happy right till the end knowing someone loved him and cared enough to try. It was a very hard goodbye because we know what could have been.

The other 6 are still in foster and waiting for their medical clearance - if you would like to donate to their vet care in memory of Blu - that would be so greatly appreciated and very much needed - we are hopeful that they will all get that second chance they deserve...

Always loved..never forgotten..we love you little one

Another hard day here but before I share that I want to share a good story.

Grizz and Gizmo the splay leg conures continue to amaze me every day - Grizz is the tamer of the two and Gizmo is the wild one but is slowly learning that people are actually awesome - he has also discovered how his beak works the past few weeks and has been having serious biting issues with me - I have been working with him every night and tonight is the first night where he was sooooo gentle - I do believe he has learned the word! Just a short video of him - did I mention how adorable he is
