It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that we write message - a message that we worked tirelessly to avoid.

Effective immediately, CORE will be permanently closing their studio doors, for the third and final time. For the last six years, we have been unbelievably fortunate to build and foster a community united by a shared love of movement, friendship, and authenticity.

The burden of the pandemic and resulting closures and restrictions, the post pandemic landscape, and a studio flood have proven to be too much to overcome.

We will forever be grateful to have been part of something so incredibly and indescribably special. The last 6 years changed our lives, formed permanent memories for us and our family, and taught us valuable life lessons. This is not what we wanted, nor where we ever pictured ourselves. We had big dreams and goals with you all.

We worked over the weekend to find you new fitness homes that align with our core values of community, authenticity, and locally owned. These studios have generously offered on honor your passes so please check your inbox for details:

As a Nehiyaw Two Spirit Trans Gay man, this month turns into a celebration of intersectionality and unapologetic existence despite the historical events that tried to erase those like myself ❤️

First, a quick recap of what Two Spirit means from my POV:
Two Spirit is a pan-Indigenous umbrella term that acknowledges the historical acceptance of gender and sexual diversity prior to colonization. This term speaks specifically to the experiences of Indigenous peoples and the disruption of the historical acceptance in some communities due to colonialism. The term is meant to be a place holder for Indigenous Q***r folks to come gather under the shared experience within colonialism. EACH community has their own understanding of what Two Spirit is and it is up to each community to explore what those roles are.

Further, Two Spirit roles were based largely around gender rather than sexual/romantic orientation. As we understood that

The Tastawiyiniwak or the in-between people/society of the Nehiyaw / Cree. Our Indigenous worldview of gender is spirit based rather than biology based.
