Today, the Calgary Construction Association was pleased to host the 4th Annual Premier’s Luncheon, bringing together industry leaders for a timely discussion—just one day after the Government of Alberta tabled Budget 2026.
We were honoured to welcome Premier Danielle Smith for a fireside chat, where we explored the challenges and opportunities shaping Alberta’s construction industry. Discussions focused on public procurement, workforce development, apprenticeship training, and infrastructure investment—all essential to ensuring Alberta can keep pace with record population growth and continued economic expansion.
As Alberta navigates global economic uncertainty, evolving trade dynamics, and sustained growth pressures, stable infrastructure funding and a strong skilled workforce remain critical to delivering the schools, healthcare facilities, housing-enabling infrastructure, and transportation systems our communities depend on.
A special thank you to our members for attending and to our many sponsors for making today’s event possible.
The Calgary Construction Association will continue to work closely with the Government of Alberta to advance policies that strengthen industry capacity, support workforce development, and ensure Alberta remains one of the best places in North America to build.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today for the latest in our Big Picture Series, “A Conversation with Mayor Farkas” for a candid and intriguing conversation with Mayor Jeromy Farkas about city-building and the role Calgary’s construction industry plays.
With Calgary continuing to grow at a record pace, the discussion focused on the big files that will shape our city’s next chapter: how we keep housing and infrastructure delivery moving, how we tackle the infrastructure deficit with long-term discipline, and how we attract and retain the workforce needed to build what Calgary needs next.
We’re grateful to Mayor Farkas for taking the time to engage directly with our members, and to our community for showing up and contributing to the conversation. The Calgary Construction Association will keep advocating for practical, predictable, and timely decisions that support investment, jobs, and city-building across Calgary.
