Christmas holds a profound and sacred place in our family’s heart—a radiant reminder of the extraordinary blessings we have received since arriving in Canada over four decades ago.

We left Saigon in the early 1980s, carrying little more than hope, memories of home, and a deep faith that sustained us through the hardest years. When we finally settled in Calgary, this generous land welcomed us with open arms. It gave us safety, opportunity, and the chance to rebuild our lives from scratch. Through decades of hard work, saving every dollar, and holding tightly to our dreams, we were able to open Saigon Maxim—first in Riverbend and now on 4th Street in the heart of the city. This restaurant is not just a business; it is our heartfelt thank-you to Canada, a way to share the flavors of our heritage while serving the community that gave us so much.

Christmas, more than any other season, brings all of this into perfect focus. It is the celebration of light arriving in darkness, of hope born in the humblest of places—much like the hope that carried our family across oceans to a new beginning here. Every twinkling light on Macleod Trail, every snowfall blanketing the prairies, every warm greeting from guests who have become like extended family reminds us of the grace we have been shown.

Serving our guests during the Christmas season—whether it’s a steaming bowl of phở to warm someone on a cold Alberta night, fresh spring rolls shared around a holiday table, or a quick takeout order for a busy family gathering—feels like the most natural way to give back. In the glow of the restaurant’s lights, amid the laughter and stories shared over meals, we feel the circle of blessing complete: the land that blessed us allows us to bless others in return.

This year, after many joyful days of serving you, we will be closing Saigon Maxim on December 23, 24, and 25 so that our team—many of whom have become like family to us—can rest, recharge, and celebrate the season with their loved ones, friends, and families. These days of togetherness are precious to us, just as we know they are to you.

Because of this, Christmas will forever be our favorite time of the year. It is when gratitude overflows, when faith feels closest, and when the true spirit of giving—of food, warmth, and love—shines brightest.

From our family to yours, at Saigon Maxim and in every home across this beautiful city, we wish you a Christmas filled with peace, joy, and the deep assurance that you are loved.

Merry Christmas, Calgary—with all our hearts❤️

At Saigon Maxim, Father's Day is a celebration that overflows with gratitude for the men who have selflessly guided us through life's journey. Whether they stepped into their role from birth or walked in later, their impact is immeasurable. This special day is a chance to express heartfelt thanks for the sacrifices they've made, to cherish the bond we share with them, and to acknowledge the profound difference they've made in our lives.

Let's honor the fathers, father figures, and mentors who have shown up, shouldering the weight of responsibility with love, patience, and wisdom. They've taught us the value of hard work, held us accountable, and showered us with love. While we strive to love and appreciate our parents every day, Father's Day is a beautiful opportunity to specifically recognize the vital role fathers play.

To those who've been blessed with an amazing father figure, let's celebrate the gift they are to our lives. And to those who've faced challenges or absence, know that you're held close with love and compassion. We acknowledge the difficulties you've faced, but we also recognize the power of community and the love that binds us. Even without a traditional father figure, we've all been given the gift of connection and the ability to support and guide one another. Let's come together, united in gratitude, and celebrate the love, guidance, and care that enriches our lives.

Thank you for honoring and celebrating Father's Day at Saigon MaximSaigon Maxim - a beautiful tribute to the love, sacrifices, and unwavering dedication of fathers everywhere. Your recognition of their vital role in shaping lives and families is a testament to the power of gratitude and appreciation.
