As a high-energy entrepreneur I thrive on navigating growth. Having successfully grown my own busine

๐Ÿ– ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ??!!!
I realized the other day that itโ€™s been 8 years since I made the leap, joined the land of misfit toys and became an EOS Implementer. I paused for a moment and thought back at how far Iโ€™ve come in the last 8 years. Aside from how much hair Iโ€™ve grown, there were 8 lessons that stood out to me that I thought Iโ€™d share. Hopefully they can help you with whatever journey youโ€™re on:

1. A new business really isnโ€™t that much easier to build than the first one. Each business is its own puzzle to solve and has its own unique challenges.

2. Confidence comes through good reps. It takes humility to keep practicing, even when I think Iโ€™m pretty decent. Keep doing the work anyways.

3. Imposter syndrome is a sign Iโ€™m onto something. It means Iโ€™m pushing my edge and growing. Getting uncomfortable is a necessary part of growth.

4. Comparison is the thief of joy. Weโ€™re all on our own journey. Donโ€™t pay attention to anyone elseโ€™s timelines or accomplishments.

5. Get freakish. Own thy quirky, freakish self. Letting my true, relentless AF (and fun) self loose has made me a better coach, teacher, facilitator, human. Iโ€™ve stopped trying to make everyone happy. Iโ€™d rather be my true self than morph into someone else to make everyone happy. Itโ€™s much less exhausting. Own it.

6. Community is king. Surrounding myself with good people is critical. The groups I hang with believe in each other, challenge each other, love each other, support each other. Iโ€™ve got an amazing crew around me from my DTI forum, my Wolfpack group and my EOS worldwide coaching team. You all rock!

7. Let the woowoo in. Getting to know myself and the softer, gooier side of life has helped me immensely. I meditate regularly now, slow down more, think more, love more, ponder more, journal more, spend more time connecting to my energy. Itโ€™s all helped me get more grounded and connect with another level of myself.

8. Compete less. Stop being so hyper-achievement-oriented and enjoy the journey more. Help others more. Rest more. Recover more. Have fun more. My family appreciates me more when Iโ€™ve struck a nice balance of rest, recovery and relentlessness.

If you reflect back, what are your key learnings since starting something new?

'Shark Tank' star defends controversial tweet: 'Get over it' 02/17/2023

I disagree with Mr. Wonderful. Iโ€™ve started four successful companies and I donโ€™t believe you have to sacrifice family to be a successful entrepreneur.
Is it all sunshine and roses? Nope. Itโ€™s not an easy journey, nor for the faint of heart.
You definitely have to be willing to work hard but taking breaks to regenerate, recharge, rethink is also critically important. Kevin thinks weโ€™re sacrificing our families for a brighter future. What if our business isnโ€™t successful? Weโ€™ve now lost our family AND our business. What if the future is NOW? Why donโ€™t we change our thinking and prioritize our family now?
We can work hard, then take a break. Work hard then take a break.
Taking care of key family and friend relationships were critical to my success because when the s**t hit the fan, those same people had my back and were there to help pick me back up.
As leaders , I believe we have to chart the course. Show people the way. Both CAN be done at the same time. Itโ€™s AND not OR.

But to go into the game believing you have to sacrifice family to be successful???
Hell no.

Iโ€™m baaaaackkk! After taking time to chill out (literally), Iโ€™ve started off this year with a bang!

Over the holidays, even though the weather was frightful, I made sure to take time to enjoy the outdoors. I had a great time skiing and was quite proud of my beard frost!
The down time meant I completely disconnected from my work stuff: no email, no LinkedIn. I came back fully recharged and chomping at the bit to get after it.

How do you chill out to come back refreshed?

Letting go is hard. Like really hard. In fact, 70% of most leaders donโ€™t believe theyโ€™re good at delegating and 66% of their employees agree (I can send you the study). The baffling part? There is very little training dedicated to helping solve this problem.

The stakes are HUGE. As a leader, our inability to let go and delegate effectively can cripple our businesses ability to grow and crush our team mates. The more I dig into this problem, the more excited I get about how much I can help others with this issue. Would your team benefit from hearing the straight goods about the common pitfalls and the critical steps to take to let go and delegate better?
Iโ€™d love to help!

Does this sound interesting to you?
If yes, then letโ€™s talk about how I can help.
