🌱 Building Self-Help Skills in Preschoolers 🌱 One of the greatest rewards of being a classroom teacher was watching children become more confident through everyday achievements.
Simple tasks like putting on a jacket, washing hands, cleaning up toys, or serving themselves teach much more than independence—they build confidence, responsibility, resilience, and a sense of accomplishment.
I also learned that supporting children is a team effort. When educators and families work together with patience, consistency, and encouragement, children thrive.
Every small step toward independence is a big step toward lifelong learning. đź’š

Bright Beginning by Siena ✨ Early learning continues abroad
Understanding Emotional Development in Early Childhood Emotional development in early childhood doesn’t happen by chance—it’s supported through everyday interactions.
Simple strategies like naming emotions, modeling calm behavior, and validating children’s feelings help build strong emotional foundations. Tools like feelings charts, storybooks, and calm-down spaces also give children the language and space to regulate themselves.
As ECE, I’ve learned that small moments—like guiding a child through frustration—can make the biggest difference in their emotional growth.
How are you supporting emotional development in your practice?
One of the biggest lessons I learned working in daycare is that children thrive with routines.
Simple, predictable daily moments help children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. Routines don’t need to be perfect—consistency, patience, and connection matter most.

Public meltdown in the grocery store…
You’re just trying to shop, and suddenly your child is crying or screaming and it feels like everyone is watching.
Take a breath — you’re not a bad parent, and your child isn’t “misbehaving.” They’re overwhelmed.
Stay calm, connect with your child, and if needed, step out. That’s okay.
You’re not alone in this. 🤍

Many families ask me, “Why doesn’t my child listen when I say time out?”
Instead of using the word time out, try shifting your approach.
Children don’t always understand punishment—but they do understand connection.
Try saying:
“Let’s take a break together.”
“I see you’re having a hard time, I’m here.”
“Let’s calm our body first.”
When we guide instead of punish, children feel safe—and that’s when real listening begins 🤍
If this sounds like your child, you’re not alone.
