India is counting days to unveil one of its most ambitious cultural projects ever. The Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum in New Delhi is an upcoming landmark where the world will get to know the rich history of Bharat. Envisioned as the world’s largest museum, it will showcase India's journey spanning over 5,000 years and socio-economic evolution through several dynasties, starting from the Indus Valley Civilization under one roof.

Yuge Yugeen Bharat, meaning Evergreen India, is being developed in the historic North Block and South Block buildings at Raisina Hill, in close proximity to the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan and central power corridor of New Delhi. These North and South Block heritage structures once housed key government ministries and are being transformed into world-class cultural spaces with care for architectural legacy.

Spanning approximately 1.55 lakh square metres, including 80,000 square metres of exhibition space, the museum will have 950 rooms and 30 thematic galleries displaying nearly 100,000 artefacts sourced from the National Museum, Archaeological Survey of India and state collections. It will enlighten visitors about the historical events that have collectively shaped Bharat as modern-day India.

The first gallery, Time and Timelessness, showcasing around 100 landmark artefacts like Indus Valley terracotta, Gupta sculptures and Chola bronzes, is expected to open by the end of 2026. Additional galleries across both blocks will open in phases through 2027 and beyond, making the museum a continuously evolving cultural hub.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Culture, the project also includes international collaboration with France through France Museums Développement to ensure world-class design and exhibition standards. With an estimated footfall of over 10 million visitors annually, it will take India tourism a notch higher than where it is today.
