Bowest Motors Garden Open Harvest

You're invited to an Open Harvest this Sunday, July, 17th from 11 am to 1 pm at the Bowest Motors garden off Bowness Road. Drop by and pick up some of the lettuces, radishes, assorted greens and rhubarb that are ready to harvest.

The Bowest Motors garden has become a gem in the community, a seven-year collaboration between Les Tuck and Rod Olsen. For 2022, Rod generously gifted the stewardship of this garden to a group of Bownesians and to that end it has been planted with a wide variety of vegetables, fruit bushes, herbs, raspberries and perennial plants. The garden is a true community effort; the land and water supplied by Bowest Motors, the compost, seeds and perennials generously donated by local residents, and the care and watering of the garden undertaken by a dedicated group of volunteer gardeners! Our hope is to pay it forward and have the garden provide a variety of produce for Bownesians.

The estimated cost of compost, seeds and plants for this years garden was $500. Labour as well as monetary donations will go a long way towards helping the garden succeed in future years. Let's make it a community bounty again next year!
