Follow these important safety tips when using extension cords around your home or business:

• Use an extension cord that is properly rated for the load and only use it temporarily
• Never use double ended, or “male-to-male,” extension cords – it puts our employees at risk and could result in a fire in your home
• Do not remove or bypass the third prong on a plug – it is required for safety reasons
• Keep extension cords away from water
• Do not use worn extension cords as they may cause shocks and fires
• Do not run cords under carpeting – it can cause harm to the cords’ wires and their protective coating and may result in a fire
