The much awaited occupation-based draws are to be announced shortly by IRCC. In order to shortlist the occupations, Immigration minister Sean Fraser participated in discussions with provinces and territories, unions, employers, worker advocacy groups, settlement provider organizations and immigration researchers and practitioners. Here's some more information on the upcoming new occupation-based draws.

The Agri-Food Pilot Program introduced in 2020, has been extended to May 2025. This pilot program was aimed to help the temporary workers in the agricultural and food industries to become a permanent resident in Canada. The annual occupational cap of 2,750 applications a year, will be lifted, which means that more eligible candidates will be able to apply under this program.
