This is a balayage I did FIVE months ago! Notice the graceful grow out. One reason why balayage is desirable to so many clients.

Yuck! Can you see why it's so important to get regular trims; blunt off those gross ends and your hair will not only look better, it won't continue to unravel and cause higher damage! Your FYI for the day. ππ
WHY should you get regular trims? My mentor, Mags Kavanaugh, explains perfectly:
Hair is built like a rope, it's bundles of hair intertwined together. When the hair is cut, it's nice and sharp and stays that way until the 6 week mark, at that point the ends start to fray and slowly expand out, which is the start of a split end.
Hair grows 1/2 inch per month on average. Once a split ends starts it will continue to unravel, at 8 weeks, breakage sets in, with small strings of hair ripping off and the split will get higher & higher. After 10 weeks the split is fully unraveling, cause extensive damage with it fracturing up the hair shaft about 2/3 inches and if the client does get in at that 8 week mark- 2 months, then the next time she comes in, she'll need 2 to 3 inches off her hair. If she comes in every 6 to 8 weeks and gets only 1/4 inch of hair off, she can prevent all that split end damage.
When clients get in for their haircut when they should, within that 6 to 8 week mark, normally 6 weeks for fine hair and 8 weeks for coarse hair, you can make their hair grow 6 inches per year and keep it full at the bottom of the hair.
