Lorel Louise Strachan (nee Bergman), beloved wife of Duncan Alexander Strachan, of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the age of 70 years.

She was born on May 24, 1955, in Medicine Hat, AB, to Yvo and Ruth Bergman. Lorel married Duncan on December 8, 1973. After beginning to build a family with their children, Robert, Keith, and Lynnel, Lorel and Duncan moved to Cochrane in 1987.

Lorel dedicated her career to being an education aide, where she supported students with complex and special needs. She was dedicated, compassionate, and caring.

She loved baking, crocheting, camping, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star, having many accomplishments in the fraternal family, and was passionate about watching the sport of curling.

Lorel is survived by her loving husband, Duncan, her three children, Robert (Cheris), Keith (Wendy), and Lynnel (Darryl); her cherished grandchildren, Brittany (Jordan), Courtney, Erica, Ashleigh, Lexi, Jessica, Nicole, Jasmine, Tannar, and Bridgytte; and her sisters, Marian (late husband, Andy) and Yvonne (late husband, Ron).

She was predeceased by her parents, Yvo and Ruth Bergman; and her sisters, Arlene (Roger) and Leslie.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway, on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
