📸 Don’t forget to vote for your favourite photos in the Wildlife-in-Focus photography contest!
🐾 We’re excited to share that at this half-way point in the contest, we’ve raised just over $5,000 for the hundreds of orphaned, injured, and sick patients currently in care at the BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC), like this fledgling Cliff Swallow.
🪶 This patient narrowly escaped an attack by a raven who had found their nest and sent them tumbling to the ground with their nestling siblings. Left behind and far too young to be on their own, this young bird and two of their siblings were found by a Good Samaritan and urgently transferred to Wild ARC from a neighbouring wildlife rehabilitation centre on the Gulf Islands.
🩺 This feisty little bird had suffered from a fractured shoulder! After receiving weeks of specialized care at Wild ARC, including being hand-fed every 15 minutes, this swallow has graduated to an outdoor enclosure to practice their flying skills and get ready for release. While some of their siblings were not so lucky and didn’t escape the attack, we’re happy to give this bird and two siblings a second chance at life in the wild.
🗳️ The competition is heating up, and every vote made to one of over 300 stunning photos already entered, helps raise funds to provide the specialised care needed for this swallow and for the more than 2,000 wild animals admitted to Wild ARC each year. We can’t do it without you – vote for your favourites today:

✨ ✨
Today we’re sending a huge High Paws to two incredible classes at École Rochester Elementary who teamed up to create their very own craft sale for the animals!
The students told us they made all kinds of items — every piece crafted with care, creativity, and a whole lot of teamwork. It was truly a class‑wide effort, and their kindness shines through every handmade detail.
Thank you, École Rochester Elementary, for your big hearts and beautiful community spirit. You’ve made a real difference for the animals in our care. 🐾💛
