AMPS JOINS COMMUNITY VOICES FOR MMIWG2S+ AWARENESS
The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service stands in solidarity with all those impacted by the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+). We remain committed to raising awareness, supporting healing within our community, and working diligently alongside our partners to help bring closure to affected families. Together, we honour the lives lost and continue to advocate for justice, accountability, and lasting change.

We would like to acknowledge and thank our partners and community programs who collaborated in hosting an event in recognition of the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+. We recognize the Akwesasne Family Wellness Program (AFWP), Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department (SRMTPD), Three Sisters Program, Seven Dancers Coalition, and all participating organizations for their contributions. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the presenters for sharing their knowledge, voices, and experiences. The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service was honoured to present during the event and support this important initiative.

In recognition and remembrance, our patrol officers are wearing red “POLICE” identifiers on their vests to show solidarity and to help raise further awareness of the MMIWG2S+ movement.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service remains dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of our community. We encourage continued support and involvement. Anyone with information that may assist an investigation is asked to contact Central Dispatch at 613-575-2000.
