Some facts about Lungs!

Studies have shown that pulmonary bleeding can be found in OVER 95% of horses performing at speed.

What is the problem with the lungs?
Well, you can’t see them and most of the time you can’t hear them either. However, this is a system working at its limit. It needs proper care and all the support you can give it.

You cannot train the respiratory system of the horse.

If all the airways in the lung were opened out and laid flat on the ground, they would occupy a total area equivalent to 10 TENNIS COURTS.

The amount of air moved in and out of the lungs increases in direct proportion to how fast the horse is running. If a horse runs twice as fast, it must move twice as much air in and out.

At canter and gallop normal horses take one breath perfectly in time with one stride. This is referred to as respiratory-locomotor coupling.
