We are so grateful for our community! Go check out The Pop-Up Thrift Co. 💛

A new thrift store in Eastern Passage, N.S., known as Pop-Up Thrift Co., has been opened by three sisters and is giving back to the community.

The store is run by three sisters, Rachel Romkey, Jami Sutton, and Nicole Fellows, who wanted to bring something new to the area. Their thrift store was built on the belief that everyone deserves access to affordable items.

Co-founder Rachel Romkey shared that, as a single mother of two kids, she understands the challenges of rising prices. They have tried to price everything as low and fairly as possible at the thrift store. While the thrift store was officially launched last month, it had been growing and running from a garbage bag to a closed-in trailer before the store opened.

Romkey says, apart from clothes, the thrift store features many other treasures, such as household items, books, and VHS tapes for families searching for a bit of nostalgia. The children of the three sisters are also involved in running the thrift store, as they help organize donations and put clothes out on the floor.

A portion of the proceeds from the thrift store sales goes back into the community. While the three sisters have been donating to the Eastern Passage Community Fridge for the past few months, they hope to expand support to other organizations across Halifax Regional Municipality as the business grows.

🌟 Community Shout-Out 🌟

A huge shout-out to Kara Galant, a Grade 12 student whose compassion and dedication are making a real difference in our community!

Kara recently organized a 10-day period product drive, collecting essential menstrual hygiene products to support those experiencing period poverty. Thanks to her hard work and the generosity of those who contributed, these much-needed items were donated to the Eastern Passage Food Security Society.

Initiatives like Kara's help ensure that everyone in our community has access to basic necessities while raising awareness about an important issue that often goes unnoticed.

Thank you, Kara, for your leadership, kindness, and commitment to helping others. Your efforts are an inspiring example of how one person can create positive change in their community. 💜👏
