Why “sharing content that provides value” is no longer enough as a way to market your online business in 2023:

How many of us have heard this generic advice at some point in your entrepreneurship journey?

For a long time, sharing “valuable content” was an excellent strategy for engaging your audience, growing your following, and bringing new leads into your business.

But as more and more businesses have taken on this strategy, it’s lost its impact. Sharing “10 tips to xyz” or “The #1 thing you should avoid to _ “ is no longer sufficient in your online marketing strategy.

With the overwhelming amount of information that can now be found online, and the ever-increasing use of AI to create social content, this just won’t suffice.

My advice?

Share your personal opinions and insights within your area of expertise, even if it’s not the mainstream way of thinking. Don’t be afraid to be a little controversial.

Everyone can copy and paste 10 tips that they found on Google, but not everyone will be brave enough to share their honest opinion and stir the pot a little.

Not only will this show your audience you’re an authority in your field, and differentiate you from your competitors, but studies also show that controversial content is more likely to be shared, and thus reach more eyeballs.
