Here is some interesting information about pain during childbirth:
1. Labor pain is subjective and can be different and unique to each individual. Pain is influenced by many different psychological, physical, and environmental factors! (Rodrigues et al., 2024)

2. Many studies show that when a mother has positive expectations about childbirth when they are pregnant, their experiences of childbirth tend to be positive as well (Alehagen & Wijma, 2006). Mindset matters!

3. Know that women have been giving birth "since the dawn of time" (Dreisbach, 2026)! You aren't the one person out of billions of mothers who just "can't handle the pain".

Lastly, although childbirth is painful and can be pretty uncomfortable, most mothers have a positive outlook on their child birthing experience. In a study done in a Portuguese public hospital, most women in the study had a high level of satisfaction with their child birthing experience. (Rodrigues et al., 2024).
