New soil database will help Alberta farmers plot out sustainable practices A new University of Alberta project is harnessing information from thousands of soil samples into one big database to get an idea of how healthy the province’s agricultural soils are.

The Canadian Forage and Grassland Association (CFGA) and partners have recognized a need for ongoing, comprehensive grasslands inventory and are leading the National Grasslands Inventory Project to complete grasslands classification and ecoregional distribution across Canada as well as to characterize carbon sequestration functions of native grasslands.🌾
