MCS Karate Edmonton

Our Story

MCS focuses on traditional Sh*to Ryu Itosu Kai karate training (basics, kihon kata and kihon kumite) as well as some sports karate for those interested in competition. Our club hosts an annual local friendship tournament, participates in some provincial tournaments and the Itosu Kai Spring and Fall National tournaments in Ontario. Every Four years the Itosu Kai World Cup is hosted in a different country and attending those competitions allows us to meet like minded karateka from many other countries.

Our Kobudo is RyuKyu lineage (Shinken O’Sensei) and includes bo, tonfa, gama, sai and nunchuku as the basic weapons though other weapons are also studied.

Karate is a lifetime study.......not a race....
