Does anyone have issues with their joints such as knees? It's common as we get older that we experience joint pain. So what can you do?
Oil Your Joints!
The better you nourish your joints, the better they work. Inflammation leads to arthritis, among other things, so it makes sense that the less inflammation in your body the less pain, such as joint pain.
Fish oils, such as wild salmon, help rebuild damaged cartilage through their anti-inflammatory properties. 'In a Danish study it was found that people who ate an average of four ounces of fish daily had less joint swelling, morning stiffness, and pain than those who didn't, ' (Prime Time Healthy by Dr. Bill Sears).
So what about those who don't like fish? I suffer with that myself. Omega 3 supplements are a good route for those who don't eat at least two 6 ounce portions of wild salmon per week. When looking for a supplement, look for something that is derived from wild fish, such as salmon, and is solely an Omega 3 (we get enough 6's in our regular diet), and be sure it's EPA and DHA, which it should be if it's from wild fish.

Well, cold and flu season is well upon us, at least here in Alberta anyways. What are some tips you have to stay healthy and avoid the germs?
I like to super boost my daily smoothies with foods such as blueberries and spinach. Did you know that blueberries have the highest antioxidant capacity? They also mask the taste of foods like spinach, which is high in Vitamin C, making them great for picky little eaters, like my daughter Annelie.
It's important to think about what you can DO for your health, rather than what you can TAKE, in terms of medication. I hear a lot of people saying they are taking extra Vitamin C, but what they should be doing instead is eating more fruits and veggies. Your body doesn't know what to do with an isolated vitamin, it needs the 10,000 other phytonutrients that go along with it, so really all that extra Vitamin C is just really expensive p*e....

I'm back!! I wrote the final exam for my coaching course on Sunday, and boy did it feel great! I'm not loaded down with a bunch of knowledge and feel really empowered to help others take their health into their own hands.
Tip for the day: Inflammation is a major factor in chronic illness and the primary cause of excess inflammation is diet. So, control your inflammation and reduce the risk of illness. Eat variety, foods that are rich in color, and graze throughout the day. Your body will thank you, and you'll thank yourself for making simple changes to lead a healthy lifestyle.

This gives me chills. As I've learned in my Health Coaching course, and believed beforehand, sometimes it's hard to know what's the symptom from the health issue and what's the symptom from the medication they've prescribed.
Oftentimes you go to the doctor for an ailment, walk out with a prescription, and then you end up with more symptoms... then they diagnose you with something else... then you get another prescription, more symptoms and the vicious cycle continues. So which symptom is a result of an illness and which is a result of a medication. How would they ever know?
Don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for western medicine, absolutely. But there is more of a place for nutrition; healthy foods and healthy eating. We are so quick to take a prescription from the doctor, often without realizing that there are side effects, and most likely without asking what you might be able to change in your diet or lifestyle first, before taking the medication.

Healthy eating doesn't have to be boring or expensive!
This is homemade Pansit. It's just cabbage, carrots, onions, homemade teriyaki sauce, and chicken breast. I served it on rice noodles, but those are optional.
D E L I C I O U S !!
Lots of flavour, and fed three adults with two containers left over for lunches 😉
