Happy haunt season, kittens. We sure do miss you.

Our Dead Centre of Town Collective has been lurking in the shadows, eager to make our chilling return. But, like any good ghost story, the unexpected has a way of creeping up on you. After some eerie twists and turns, we've decided to take another year off to rest in peace — for now.

While we won’t be haunting you this season, our collective of creepy creators is itching to bring Dead Centre of Town back in full-scare spectacle. The terrifying truth is, producing large-scale immersive theatre takes GUTS (by guts we mean ample time, space, and resource enough to sustain our collective of professional artists). We don't quite know how and we don't quite know when, but we’ll be back when the time is right. Have ideas that’ll help us rise from the grave? Whether it’s a haunted venue, eerie partnership, or wicked opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Help us summon our next nightmare.

In the meantime, keep your lanterns lit and your spirits high. And be sure to take in all the Dead Centre of Town Collective has to offer as we romp about in other graveyards:

Megan, Dead Centre of Town's Playwright and resident Necromantic Medium, is conjuring real ghost stories from Strathcona’s history alongside the quick-witted evil geniuses at Rapid Fire Theatre. These true tales of horror will inspire larger than life comedic tales performed in the style of all your favourite haunt season stories: https://rapidfiretheatre.com/shows/hahahaunting/

Kat & John, aka The October People and our Special Effects Sorcerers, are working their eerie magic at Escape City. A trail less travelled to a beautiful vista, all thanks to the impromptu conversation with that friendly bearded fellow at the trailhead. The descent was slow and a bit treacherous. Then it happened: a trap line, a flurry of action, and darkness. You wake up on the floor of an old cabin to the sound of heavy footsteps. A tap...tap...tap...on the window draws your attention to a burly figure standing outside. "Do try to stay calm" he says with a grin, "fear will only spoil the meat." The Woodsman is now stalking his prey in Edmonton, Calgary, and Saskatoon! Book now: https://escapecity.ca/room/the-woodsman/

Ian, our Impossible Machine Wizard, has joined shadowy forces with Fort Edmonton Park's DARK to create spine-tingling, blood-curdling effects for four wicked experiences that'll leave you sleeping with one eye open. With shadows lurking around every corner, you never know what you’ll stumble upon in the DARK: https://www.fortedmontonpark.ca/events/featured-events/dark

Christine - our dear, haunting Alice the Hench and longtime experience collaborator - is back in the creative lab developing the next iteration of the award-winning production of The Spinsters with Small Matters. Cinderella’s Ugly Stepsisters cordially invite you back to the Palace, just like the good old days. Doesn’t everyone love a ball? The pageantry, the elegance, the romance. Their ball, their rules. The world’s most infamous step-siblings are ready to dish the dirt. What scandals hide within the glittering facade? Catch The Spinsters in Edmonton in February, 2025 and stay up to date with Christine’s teaching: https://smallmatters.ca/shows/the-spinsters/
(PS - The Spinsters features the mad talents of many Dead Centre of Town alumni!)
