Walking for nervous system regulation has become my non-negotiable. But here's what I realized on today's walk: I wasn't actually regulating anything. I was just taking my work with me.
AirPods in, podcast playing, mental to-do list running.

Sound familiar?

There's a massive difference between moving your body and actually resetting your nervous system. And it all comes down to what you're doing while you walk.

Here's the yes and no:

🙋‍♀️ Walking alone in presence (forest bathing energy) — yes, your nervous system gets the reset it needs.

🙋‍♀️ Walking with your girls, really connecting — yes, oxytocin is doing the work.

🙅‍♀️ Walking while consuming content, taking calls, problem-solving — nope. You're just relocating your stress. The nervous system doesn't know you're outside. It only knows you're still on.

So here's the real question: What are you actually hoping your walks will do for you? Because that changes how you walk.

This is my reality today!

If you too are on day 26, know that I see you and that this day too shall pass!

Get a cup of tea, a warm blanket and take lots of mini rest breaks today. You will not win the marathon today...

I saw a post this week that said: "I've managed to pour from a cup that's been completely bone dry. It's a skill fuelled by love. It's the kind of strength that only a mother knows."

And I felt it in my chest. Because I've been that woman. I've poured from bone dry and called it devotion.

But here's what I've also learned — as a hormone health practitioner, as a mother of three, and as a woman who burned out so completely she didn't recognise herself anymore…

Your body doesn't care how noble the reason is.

Every time you run on empty, your cortisol rises. Progesterone drops. Your nervous system locks into survival mode. Dopamine — the thing that lets you feel pleasure, joy, aliveness — flatlines.

And over time? That's not strength. That's the biological cost of a belief system that told us mothers are supposed to be superhuman.

We're not.

We are cyclical, rhythmic, beautifully human women who were never designed to function on fumes indefinitely. And the toll shows up in midlife — in PMS that feels unbearable, exhaustion that sleep can't fix, rage that comes from nowhere, and a quiet disconnection from the woman you used to be.

The martyr narrative kept us small. It kept us silent. And it kept us sick.

The alternative isn't selfish. It's sustainable. Fill your cup. Let the overflow do the giving.

Doors to Cyclical: Reclaiming You close tonight at 10pm MST. This is the only cohort running in 2026.

If you're done romanticising running on empty… if you're ready for tools that actually help you come back to yourself…

This is your moment. Link in bio 🔗
