TWOSE Science Communication Fellows (also known as Research Zone attendees) participate in a science communication short course, a series of five, three-hour workshops, focused on developing tools for communicating scientific concepts to the public. Over the course of the workshops, participants develop a unique, hands-on activity representing their own work which is run with the public during the final workshop session. Following completion of the course, Fellows receive a certificate acknowledging their training.

This cohort of Research Zone is made possible through a Natural Resources Canada – Science Outreach and Engagement Grant. Participants’ research should be connected to one of the following areas:
 Environmental sustainability;
 Climate change mitigation and adaptation;
 Competitiveness of natural resources sectors; or,
 Public safety and national security.

The sessions will be held at TWOSE on Saturdays from 1pm – 4pm on March 2, 9, 16 and 23, and 1pm – 5pm on March 30 (a showcase). Applications must be received by Feb 12 2019.

Congratulations to our RENR GSA VP Governance, Stephanie Chute-Ibsen for placing 2nd at the uAlberta Falling Walls competition tonight! She has earned herself a position at the international Falling Walls finals in Berlin in November! Way to go, Steph, we're so proud of you!
