Real Talk. Coming from a comic book nerd as well as a recovered addict who beat their addiction. In Marvel, the symbiotic relationship between host and the symbiote (ie. venom or carnage) can also represent what it’s like to have an addiction. Once you start to “bond” with the symbiote. You tend to change into someone you’re not, someone who’s a darker version of you. Someone who no longer sees the light but chooses to spread the darkness, the pain, continuing the cycle. Removing the symbiote. Is removing the addiction (this of course being before the agent venom story arc where venom becomes a good guy after Eddie heals from his traumas) playing the spider-man 2 game where you had to fight Loved ones taken over by the symbiote. It really shows a resemblance to how addicts affects their families and how we must essentially fight them by reminding them who they are and that they are not better with an addiction in any way shape or form. If anything they are worse then who they originally are.
