Researchers at the University of Calgary are launching a Canadian study to investigate whether toenail clippings can help indicate long-term exposure to radon gas, which is a known risk factor for lung cancer.

The project aims to collect 10,000 toenail samples (along with radon testing of participants’ homes) from people across Canada.

Pete's last day on earth was really peaceful. I had the day off and outside of errands we were inseparable outside of his senior citizen naps. He felt most comfortable standing around. So we stood around in the kitchen, living room and back yard. He slept in the sun and had tapas sized servings of food all through the day. He played with his sisters and scavenged random things in the backyard. He joined me on an errand and loved sleeping on the heated seat while the sun heated him from above. Dr Fielding and her staff at Northern Veterinary Services provided us what we needed. I held him the way he loved and he relaxed right away as usual. And then he fell asleep like that. He's wherever Asia is now.
